The weekend was a sad one for the U.N.C.L.E. community, and the passing of Robert Vaughn has hit us all hard. He may have left our world, but the wealth of characters he left behind for us will endure for as long as we remember them. Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin will go on forever in the stories we write for them, and new writers are emerging all the time.

Today is Short Affair day, and you’ll find the prompts and rules for stories due on November 21st, below the cut. Next week is Thanksgiving, so please feel free to give your stories a Thanksgiving theme.

Should you wish you join in with posting today, you’ll find the prompts you need right here. You could write a story dedicated to Robert Vaughn if you feel you would like to.

Remember, Section VII is a Gen site, but stories which are Het, Long-term Romance or AU can be posted in the Map Room. You’ll find the link for it down the side there.

Have fun

Napoleon Solo rubbed his face ruefully, watching Olivia Bletchley stride angrily away. His cheek smarted where she had slapped him. He looked round the room, suddenly aware that all conversations in the commissary had stopped. There were eyes, eyes everywhere.

This story is probably a little on the trite side, but it is my way of saying goodbye to Robert Vaughn. It is one of the only two deathfics I will write. The second will hopefully not be for sometime yet.

Prompts - Detect/Blue
Words - 750

The sky above the gathering was the pale, clear blue of winter, and the crispness of the air was shown by the warm breaths of all those assembled. All, that is, apart from one figure.

Napoleon Solo stood, unseen, beside the grave into which his body was being lowered.

Challenge: The Short Affair

-Prompt Word #2 – Monk

-Prompt Colour – Blue

Author: mrua7

Title: “Feeling the razor’s edge”

Word count: 995

It wasn’t the first time Illya Kuryakin had worn the brown robes of a monk, nor would it probably be the last. Somehow even with the length of his hair he’d gotten away with not cutting it short, nor performing the act of tonsure which was shaving some or all of the hair on the scalp as a sign of religious devotion and humility.

That was, he avoided it until now. He’d do whatever it took to successfully complete an assignment but the idea butchering his hair, he found...upsetting.

So, the fic I had planned to submit for today's Short Affair was the one I posted on Friday after hearing about Robert's passing. I do have a non-challenge piece--a lighthearted one--part of a set of ten short blurbs that I wrote over the weekend; I'm posting this one here because it was my favorite of the lot (because I've written for loopy!Illya twice, and now it's Napoleon's turn).

Summary: Napoleon is still loopy from his encounter with a new THRUSH drug, and Illya knows it's going to be a long night.

~500 words

PicFic Tuesday prompt for Tuesday November 22nd.

Two more PicFics left for November, then I'll be taking off December...it's time for a break I suppose.  Maybe some impromptu challenges will pop up, plus there's going to be a Christmas Round Robin. Stay tuned for that.

Due: Tuesday November 22nd
Statistical stuff: Minimum 500 words, no maximum.
Subject Matter: Post a MFU story based on the photo prompt.

Posting here should fit into the GENeral concepts of the section7mfu community, contain nothing explicit and reflects the 1960's series in style and content, featuring our brave men from U.N.C.L.E. However, that being said, there is a GEN-mature tag option for stories that contain violence, torture, angst or mild het. So if your story falls under that category please use the appropriate tag.

Your story can be specifcally about the prompt, featured or just mentioned in your story. It's meant to inspire!

Subject Header: Please include in your Subject Header the phrase 'For Picfic Tuesday', your title and the due date as well as which site on which you are posting your story.

If you've missed a PicFic in the past, but have written a story for one, it's fine to post it on an any Tuesday. Just include the subject header info and the original date of the prompt.

Here's your prompt:
