I somehow let the fifth anniversary of the Short Affair pass by last month. This whole challenge began on 6th October 2014. So, although I'm late, I'm going to offer the same prompts for next week as we had for the very first one.

You'll find the prompts for November 11th down below the cut. For stories due today, simply follow this link.

https://section7mfu.livejournal.com/2668107.html

Don't forget, you can now chose to use one of the prompt words, or to use both in your story (not forgetting the colour element), remembering to state which combination of prompts you are using.

Remember, Section VII is a Gen site, but stories which are Het, Long-term Romance or AU can be posted in [livejournal.com profile] mfu_map_room.

You can post directly to Section VII or, if you wish, you can post your story elsewhere and provide a link. Please say where the link leads as a lot of people are unwilling to go to certain sites. Don't forget, Section VII and the Map Room are both available on Dreamwidth, for those of you who can figure it out (Just let us know if you posted there).

Have fun.

Good Monday to everyone! Here's your word, so write something clever and post in the comments.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4

Puerile

[PYUHR-ill]Part of speech: adjective

Good Monday to everyone! Here

  • Showing immaturity; silly or juvenile
  • Relating to or characteristic of a child

Examples of Puerile in a sentence

  • The puerile pranks earned the boys a few weeks detention on top of the punishment their parents gave them.
  • The older sister was irritated at being forced to wear a puerile outfit to match her sibling in the family photo.

About Puerile

While puerile can be used to mean anything related to actual children, it’s also used to describe anything immature and childish. Actor Will Ferrell has made a career starring in puerile movies, such as "Zoolander," "Old School," and "Anchorman." Even beloved Christmas movie “Elf” has a juvenile element to the story.

Did you Know?

Puerile is giving boys a bad name. The adjective used to describe something immature, childish, or just altogether silly comes from the Latin word puer, meaning boy. Instead of saying “Boys will be boys,” challenge them to push aside stereotypes and change their puerile behavior.

Illya Kuryakin was in a familiar situation, being questioned by a lunatic from THRUSH. This particular lunatic appeared to have delusions of belonging to a revival of Edwardian society, although it might simply have been a fashion statement, considering it was the sixties and not considered out of step for a man to dress in a ruffled shirt.

“Mister Kuryakin, I am curious to know at what point we can accurately define your knowledge of the inner workings of the Soviet Union’s ability to infiltrate the Hierarchy.” It was a ludicrous assumption, thinking that Kuryakin had access to the Kremlin now that he was a member of the U.N.C.L.E.

“Ah, to define is to limit. It would be reckless of me to divulge anything related to Soviet spy craft, particularly anything concerning THRUSH.” Illya was stalling for time, he expected his partner to show up sooner than later; at least he hoped so.

The interrogator, Cornelius Biggins, smiled at the reference to his favorite writer.

“I see you know your Wilde, The Portrait of Dorian Gray. And that is gray with an ‘a’, not grey with an ‘e’.” The qualification of spelling out the word was another indication of the man’s absurd and presumptuous character. Illya considered killing him in that moment, an impulse that was countered by the fact his hands were tied behind his back.

Author: mrua7

Title:The Picture of Dorian Gray”

Napoleon sat on a bench in the gym wearing a grey sweatsuit, slightly damp with perspiration. He’d removed his leather padded headgear and set it down beside him. After finished a sparring match with another agent name Max King, Napoleon decided to take a bit of a breather until he moved onto working out with the weights.

Max was a bit taller than Solo and had a longer reach, that required more dodging and ducking on Napoleon’s part; he had move quickly to manage getting in a punch or two.

Still, it came to no surprise to him that King won the match; winning didn’t matter to Napoleon in this case as he was merely doing it for a workout.

It did however serve a purpose, making him rethink strategies and moves to overcome a larger opponent, but that would be another workout for another day.

Looking up at the boxing ring, he saw his partner climbing up through the ropes; it was Illya’s turn to box. He was sparring with Joe Magnatelli who was a monster of a man.

Yes, it's getting to be that time of year once again.  We have a terrific history of really good stories that have evolved in this format, so we're back for another Section VII Christmas Round Robin.

We'll be posting the prompt soon, but you can sign up now.  The Round Robin will begin on December 1, and depending on how many writers we have, should finish up before the Big Day.

Remember, the Round Robin format means that you have a place in the queue, and post your chapter in order of that.  We'll have a two day turn around this year, hopefully allowing for plenty of time to write and juggle with other Real Life events during what is, for many people, a busy season.

I hope our writers will come out in full force and give us yet another fabulous Christmas story to add to our Archives.  You can read previous entries by following the links below.

This isn't the story I had intially had half an idea for yet it still has the same theme as that one (which is also the same theme as stories others have written. The prompts seem to have demanded it.

Anyway, you can find the story under the cut, or you can follow the link to go to AO3.
