About Ardent

Ardent calls back to the Latin verb “ardēre,” or to burn. The adjective ardent describes a feeling burning with passion or zeal.

The adjective "ardent" is usually used to describe an intense fan, but it can also be used to describe negative feelings. This is in a figurative sense, but the word can also be used quite literally, to describe a burning object such as the sun.

AND ANOTHER IRRESISTIBLE WORD!

Foofaraw

[/ˈfo͞ofəˌrô/]Part of speech: noun

Origin: uncertain

  • A disturbance arising from something unimportant
  • Fuss made over insignificant matters

  • Foofaraw is to be expected when teenagers get into an argument.

About Foofaraw

Apropos of its meaning, foofaraw is a complicated word about unimportant matters. A linguistic cousin to "much ado about nothing," it describes a state of disturbance resulting from something that doesn't warrant it.

Did you Know?

Foofaraw is a word whose etymology remains uncertain. We might not know where it hails from, but at least it's fun to say.
