About Limpid

Limpid is an adjective used to clearly describe anything translucent or free from clouds and darkness. It’s most often used to describe liquid, but can also be used when someone has a clear and direct way with words. Just don’t fall guilty to the cliché in writing and describe your heroine as having “eyes like deep, limpid pools.”

Did you Know?

This word can easily be traced back to the Latin word “limpidus,” meaning clear. But there’s also a link to the Latin word “lymph,” for clear water. You just might find a nymph frolicking in the limpid lymph.

So, it's been a few years but those of us who were witness to it will be unlikely to forget what it was like to hear a new Beatles song on the radio.  This one had the added bonus of being in the movie HELP!, the second movie event.  As it happens, this song, You're Gonna Lose That Girl, was recorded on this day in 1965, which is why I've chosen it as our Daily Prompt.  I'm combining my two favorites from the 60's: The Man from UNCLE and the Beatles.  How can it miss?

Prompted by the word of the day, which was 'Limpid'. Also, although it's gen, it does flirt a litte with Het, but not too much.

“Your eyes are like two limpid pools,” Napoleon whispered, as he leaned to kiss Maria.

“Limpid!” Maria exclaimed, pulling away. “That’s not very nice.”

“What? It means clear,” Solo explained. “Like clear blue waters.”

“Really?”

Maria frowned. She’d never heard the word before but it sounded sort of ugly. Thinking about it, she put it down to the first four letters. ‘Limp’ conjured up images of, not only leg injuries, but of certain parts of a man which were no use limp.

“Whatever it means,” she said, pulling Napoleon towards her. “Just keeping telling me how nice my eyes are.”
