I know, school is out and we're not in a class, but sometimes we do review here. Periodically I like to post the profile info for Section VII for everyone's benefit. We've had a number of new members added both here and on Dreamwidth, and sometimes the original mission gets left behind as we write and grow. Not that we're in violation of anything, this is not aimed at anyone so don't panic.
This is something I have done every year at some point, and today I thought of it so... that's my method of organization. From our Profile page, the Section VII Bio:
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is the iconic 60's television show that broke the mold on dramas and spy stories. The continuing fascination with the show stems from the cool gadgets, fast cars and handsome stars of this innovative classic. Section VII refers to the department within the organization that dealt with Public Relations and Propaganda, a fitting place to find fan fiction and photos that present our heroes in new dramatic missions and engaging photos of their best moments.

The site is dedicated to our love of all things UNCLE, and strives to maintain itself based around canon and concepts that are easily associated with canon. If it was on the show then it works on Section VII; in other words, appropriate for all and easily connected to the original series.
My original intention when forming this community was to provide a specific writer's space that was Gen in nature. At the time there were more alternate scenarios being written, specifically slash, and very little gen to provide an equal point of view. And I realize that point of view is what we're talking about here when fanfiction is the topic. The point of view on S7 is Gen, with the same type of het or even the occasional AU mixed into it, as it was in the series. I mean, Fembots... for the time, AU. Even the communicators and instant photos were ahead of their time, such is the world in which Solo and Kuryakin live.
I want writers to feel comfortable here, and if you want a vehicle for other genres, the
mfu_map_room is for het, long term relationships and family-centric stories.
uncle_du_jour is slash friendly. This circle of writing sites hopefully has something for everyone. You can find these on DW as well as the reception_desk_mfu, a place for questions and answers (hopefully).
That's it then, the annual review. We have several things going on this summer with our Great Episode Challenge, Short Affair and A Little Drabble Do Ya. The Summer of MFU (posting on AO3 at The Summer Affair ), and coming soon the 50th Anniversary Last Episode Challenge. That one will post in January when the final MFU episodes aired in 1968. Detail on that will coming along shortly.
I've gone on long enough. As always, thanks for everyone's continued support and interest; a big thank you to the writers who keep us on the trail of our favorite spies. I'm proud of all of you, and grateful for the fun we've shared here.
Okay, consider yourself informed.
