Because they run out.  I'm feeling a bit that way concerning the round robin, and with a flurry of activity telling me there's no interest in writing for this one, I'm a bit inclined to just dump it in the 'failed ideas' file.  I am not a patient person by nature, and I expected a better response.
Is the fandom flailing slightly?  Fewer writers, missing writers and such little activity on most of the MFU comms that I have to wonder about how much longer we will be here doing this.
On the other hand, I am an optimist, by nature.  And that makes me think we're just slumping a little because of the season, or life changes that people are experiencing.  I know I've had to relax my writing due to various events and some ongoing situations.  Just this week I've been distracted by a trip to the ER with my cousin in between work days.  Life Happens, we all know that and deal with it however it comes to us.
So...
How about a poll?  That always seems to cheer us up, and certainly we could use a space for venting, explaining or just letting off some of that proverbial steam.

I've been bad about even reading and commenting on longer stories these days. This isn't lack of interest, just lack of energy (and some problems with screen glare - being able to download to my e reader would help.)

It seems like there have been a number of new writers and commenters, but a lot of the older ones have disappeared. I think it takes new writers a while to get comfortable with the challenges.

You're probably right about newer writers, but hopefully we offer a diverse menu that allows people to wade in gradually. Thanks for commenting on this topic.
