Summary: Napoleon and Illya are once again in Monte Carlo, but this time they must enlist the help of an innocent to help them 'get out of Dodge' during France's blockade of the Principality of Monaco. (The story has a surprise 'crossover')

Definitely the line card is actually over booked. Louis just came into my head, probably because I'd been watching old episodes of Hogan's Heroes. He was a favorite character, though I must admit that I can't help think of Bob Crane's sordid sex addict past as well as his subsequent murder when I do see the show.

I'm guessing HH just called out for Louis to be a cohort of the MFU.

I've never seen Hogan's Heroes, and I have no idea who LeBeau is, but that doesn't matter. I love this story. I especially like the little touches like, NS and IK wanting to leave in comfort, and Waverly's connection to LeBeau. Well done Cuz :-)

(I've just completely scrapped mine. The story was okay, but I hit upon a completely different idea which I like more.)

Thank you! Mine too. It didn't start out being a crossover but when I had to insert a character name into the prompt, Louis just popped into my head, and the rest we shall say was history.

Thank you!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the story in spite of not being familiar with LeBeau. I didn't plan on it being a crossover but when I typed in the name Louis in the prompt...it just evolved to Louis LeBeau.

I actually researched the character of LeBeau over and above what I remembered from the show. All the bits about the restaurant, the paint store getting married were part of his bio. I added the cheating wife though as I needed a good reason for him needing to gamble. On the show he always called the Germans the 'Boche.'

You can probably see some episodes of Hogan's Heroes on You -Tube.

It was a comedy about the POW camp which secretly runs a partisan operation, destroying all sorts of German installations in the area etc. The Commandant is an idiot, and the Sergeant in charge was an over weight softie who constantly uttered the phrase "I know nothing. I see nothing." When he accidentally walked in on the prisoners preparing an operation. Colonel Hogan was their leader. The members were a cockney named Newark, LeBeau, a black American named Kinch and an dizzy but brilliant when it came to explosives American named Sergeant Andrew Carter.

It's an improbably show where the POW's run rings around the Nazis both inside and outside the camp.

LeBeau and Newkirk were my favorites. I think Robert Clary (LeBeau) is the only surviving member of the main cast - he's now 91. I remember him talking about his arm tatoo from being in a concentration camp during the war. His wikipedia entry is an interesting read.

They were my favorites too. Yes Clary is the only cast member left. I watched a very moving you tube video of him lecturing about his concentration camp experiences as a boy. There were a few people I knew who were in the camps but they were so traumatized by it that they didn't want to talk about it. I'm glad Clary did, people need to hear it first hand. There's so many deniers of what happened that it's frightening.
