What's My Line?
Jun. 1st, 2019 02:30 pm
The Unified Northern Casualty and Liability Exchange proudly presents the What’s My Line? Challenge.
Prompt: Everything’s Coming Up U.N.C.L.E.
Theme: Corporate industrial musicals
What is a corporate industrial musical, you say? A Broadway-style extravaganza put on by a corporation. They were often high-budget productions which utilized top talent. Besides entertaining annual conferences, they would introduce new products, teach sales/management techniques, and send the employees home with fresh inspiration and motivation.
For the challenge, write a story inspired by the prompt and theme. What if UNCLE or Thrush put on an industrial musical to stimulate their agents? Or Napoleon and Illya have a mission which takes them into this world? Let your imagination run wild and put on your own extravaganza!
Section VII is a Gen and Gen-mature site. Stories that are Het, long-term romance & AU can be posted in the Map Room. All other genres post in UNCLE du Jour.
Posting Dates: Friday, June 21st through Thursday, June 27th
Word Count: 500 minimum, no maximum
Subject Header: What’s My Line?, the title, and the date
Tags: whats my line, gen or gen_mature

Date: 2019-06-01 08:11 pm (UTC)In the late 80's my library did a video for the first Staff In Service Day. Each branch or department was supposed to introduce all their staff with an imaginative skit, including background music or singing. Admin was expecting something about how people loved their jobs.
They got an imaginative range of violence against patrons, including killing ones who were especially annoying, songs about how library pay is terrible, and some serious dislike of the new computer system. No one knew the Director's secretary was a fantastic Saturday Night Live style comedienne, especially the Director who was the focus of her jokes.
For some reason they never had us do something like that again even though staff had a ball making and watching it.
