UNCLE wasn't tied to a nation, although being an American television show the obvious placement of it in New York, near the UN, created the impression that it was welcome here.
America is young still, a glorious experiment in self-government that is yet to reach full maturity.  The Revolution created an ever expanding nation, built on the philosophies of brilliant minds who dared to venture beyond what they already knew.  It wasn't only a political venture, it was a creative one. They wrote a script for the future unlike anything before it.
If there are complaints and criticisms about what has come from that freedom, the voices that spew hatred or division, it remains in the hands of the people to overcome it with positive and constructive words and plans.  We the People extends beyond the document that declared freedom could exist here.  We do make the choices that govern our lives, if we will simply do what we have the power to accomplish.
We celebrate that today in the United States of America, with prayers and hopes that the freedoms will not be usurped by rhetoric and faulty doctrines, or apathy.  To everyone outside of our borders, thank you for indulging us in our day of patriotic observance.
To my fellow citizens, I say "Happy Independence Day".

A beautifully written editorial for this Independence day. The MFU comparisons/references were well done!

Happy Independence day to you as well.
