U.N.C.L.E. was an international organization, with employees from every corner of the world. Mr. Waverly demanded that his people be polyglots. It just wouldn't do to fail an assignment if you couldn't say "help" or "stop" in the local language. Or in Mr. Kuryakin's case "when is dinner?"
