The reference to the Russian agent's ability to use his intellect and instincts on the job were not what was of primary interest, in spite of the general agreement with that observation.

Everyone knew that Napoleon was gregarious and Illya was perspicacious, yet few realised that each man had both of these qualities to varying degrees. When it came to choosing a date, Solo's perspicacity could be quite assure. As for Illya, even though he was happy in his own company, when he was with a group of people, with whom he was comfortable, his gregariousness would come to the fore.
