“I am not going to do it.”

“Illya, it’s not that bad.”

Napoleon stood opposite his friend who had taken up an immovable stance, arms firmly crossed across his chest as he glared at him, making his feelings very clear.

“I do not care, I will not do it,” was the vehement reply.

“I could order you to.”

“I would still refuse.”

Solo looked at his partner incredulously, “you would disobey a command?”

Illya smirked slightly before returning to his icy glare, “would you really give me that order?”

Napoleon sighed, knowing he was getting nowhere, “touché my friend, no I wouldn’t, not in this case.”

They were standing near a row of bright blue kiosks, crowds of people milling around them, chatting, laughing and clearly enjoying themselves on this warm, sunny day in July; children darted around happily, begging their parents to go here, there and everywhere.

Kuryakin looked completely out of place with his thunderous expression.

“Tovarisch, you’re going to frighten the children with that look of yours.”

Before Illya could come back with a reply, April and Mark joined them. They looked from their CEA to his second and back again before looking at each other, confusion written on their faces.

“What’s the matter? We’ve been gone half an hour, been on three and neither of you have moved an inch,” April enquired.

“Yeah, we thought you’d have got further than this by now mates.”

“I’ve tried everything, but Illya just won’t do it.”

“Why not? I thought you thrived on the rush of adrenalin,” April said as she studied the Russian.

“Only when I have to; it is not something I actively seek,” Kuryakin looked at the structure behind him, “It is worse than torture to me.”

“You’ve survived that well enough, tovarisch, this is nothing in comparison, even children have done it.”

“It does not matter what you say I am not going to back down,” Illya ground out.

People passing by regarded the small group curiously, noticing the expression of the blond one, they steered their families away, not wanting to get caught up in what looked to be turning into an argument.

Solo sighed again, “If that really is your last word on the matter…”

“It is, you could stand me at the gates of hell, I will still not back down."

“… then what are you going to do?”

“Illya thought for a moment, if I really have to do something while we are here, I will go on the Skyride.”

“But Illya, that’s just a cable car.”

The Russian shrugged his shoulders, “I like cable cars, anyway have you seen how the Cyclone shudders every time the train runs?”

“It’s perfectly safe Illya, I’ve been on it loads of times,” April replied.

“I am not stopping you going on them, I just prefer not to.”

April rolled her eyes and grabbed Mark’s hand dragging him along to the Cyclone’s entrance with her, smiling with delight as they waited their turn.

“Are you not joining them?” Kuryakin asked Solo.

“Leave my friend on his own? No, I’ll join you on the cable cars, and make sure you stay out of trouble.”

“It is usually you that gets into trouble, my friend,” the Russian replied as he led the way to the Skyride.

They continued their banter as they joined the queue, stepping into the car when it was their turn.

“I will never understand why people actively go seeking danger by riding those roller coasters, look there’s April and Mark,” Illya pointed out the side of the pod they were travelling in.

The pair waved to their colleagues just before the sound of screaming erupted from the Cyclone as it sped down the first drop.
