Though I personally don't think Napoleon was quite that taken with Angelique (in my view, they are both just addicted to the cat-and-mouse game they play, but both always know where to stop -- Napoleon was always good at compartmentalizing), this was a well-drawn portrait of their relationship from a variant viewpoint.
You also successfully detailed a more "upstanding" [chuckle] version of Angelique, one with a personal moral compass of sorts.
Thank you, Carabele! I wouldn't say my Napoleon is "taken" with her; I think of him as addicted also, but to the dangerous sex games and the thrill of bedding someone who is so...inappropriate. They are the ultimate "frenemies."
