We've had a lot of clustering on the HODOWE calendar this year, which is leaving us with less and less people with time or inclination to write challenge stories. (Myself, for instance: I have a story started for the May Day challenge, but it's only about a third of the way finished and I really don't know if I will find the time to complete it within the posting timeframe.)
Therefore I declare we need a "spring break"!
Accordingly I am eliminating Armed Forces Day from the HODOWE Story Challenge Calendar. Thus the next challenge will be for San Fermin in July, giving folks lots of time to ponder and polish a story.
If we decide to run the HODOWE Story Challenge next year, the holidays will be different (and there will be less of them: no more than half-a-dozen). So Armed Forces Day can always be included next year.
Here is the revised HODOWE Story Challenge Calendar for the remainder of the year:
The timeframe for posting for the San Fermin challenge will be July 8th through July 14th.

Date: 2012-04-30 08:18 pm (UTC)I like the idea of stories geared to some of the lesser-known holidays. However, the sheer number of choices, coupled with the short amount of time between one holiday and the next, made things feel a bit overwhelming. I vote for a holiday every other month, at minimum.
