He was dog tired, but would never admit that fact to anyone, especially the woman who was asleep upstairs in the bedroom.


It was three o’clock when he finally walked through the front door, and after resetting the alarm he wished his security escort a good night. There were two of them, and they’d take turns standing guard through what was left of the night.


“Estelle,” Waverly whispered as his wife lifted her head when he entered the room. “Hello old girl.”


“Darling,” she looked at the clock.” You’re home early.”


Alexander chuckled. He always loved her sense of humor.
