Solo sat at the conference table, opposite Alexander Waverly.

“None of this makes sense sir. Why would THRUSH put that particular slip of paper somewhere in those boxes of fortune cookies, yet they were searching through them?”

“What are you proposing Mr. Solo?”

“Maybe it wasn’t them, or Ecks...my mind is going back to Chang’s and the waiter who started all this by slipping us the fortune cookie with the address. Could it be he was the one leading us on this chase all along? Perhaps far Eastern powers testing the waters to see what we’d do?”

“THRUSH as well? Interesting premise.” Waverly sucked on the mouthpiece of his pipe.” I suggest we bring that young man…”

“Jie, sir.”

“Find this fellow Jie and bring him in for questioning. Kuryakin is well enough, so I want you, Dancer and Slate to go back to where this all started. Rather convenient for you to have been there for this whole debacle to begin, what?”

“Well it is our favorite restaurant.”

“Therein lies part of the problem.You know better than to be predictable in your off hours. Perhaps Jie was waiting for you. Now bring him here, and quickly. Dismissed.”

insane ladybug is next as the second round begins on Monday!

Great idea, and an enjoyable read. It's rather harrowing to think of Illya having to give up his favourte Chinese restaurant; on the other hand he might have gone off cookies permanently.

Thank you! Yes the plot just might be taking a twist again. Once the mystery is solved, they'll have to decide if it's safe to go back to Changs.

Personally after Illya getting sick from eating too many fortune cookies...I'd swear off them for a while if I were him. ic

I'll never look at a fortune cookie the same way now...lol!

Boy, this is twistier than the cookies! Waverly's dressing down was spot on and Solo's contrition honest.
Now all those cookies destroyed for...what? Another evil faction, an accidental mishap, a joining of forces? Danger is definitely lurking!

Thank you! I hope this chapter has given lots of directions for the story to take. This round-robin is turning out even better than I hoped!

The cookies could still contain something...a formula, or a it could still be a red herring. Someone could pull Mr. Ecks back into the fray...maybe THRUSH is innocent in all this after all, or maybe not.

It will be interesting to see what someone has the waiter say...if he's alive.

So many roads to take. Decisions, decisions. :D

selyndaep mentioned that the story was getting twisty like a fortune cookie, I think maybe like a pretzel that way it can possibly come full circle. It's going to be very interesting to see where this next go around takes and us! What are the bad guys up to? Great job in keeping the story alive and providing an opening for several different outcomes.
