"Weather or Not"~ a double drabble story - Chapter 7

They went as far as they could and abandoned the van on Center Drive. In the distance the waterspout was still churning, like a twirling finger reaching down to the water.

The Bow Bridge would give them the best view as they headed on foot up the path towards it; stopping there and staring at the immense whirling vortex of water spanning mysteriously high into a clear blue sky.

They searched with their binoculars, seeing a few bystanders, only to have the water spout disappear within minutes of their arrival.

“Damn!” Illya cursed. “The signal was here; I am sure!”

“Well at least it gives us a better chance of finding that needle in the haystack now. We won’t have to spread ourselves thin searching all of New York.”

Kuryakin shrugged. “Only if whatever did this is not mobile, then we will be back to square one.”

Those gathering to gape at the water spout before it ended had their faces studied, but the agents decided they were merely ordinary visitors to the park.

When they returned to the van; parked behind it was a green, black and white police squad car with the red light roof light flashing away.

I'm not surprised about the cops. They're lucky to get that far.

That's good description of the water spout; it would make a good scene in canon.

Thank you very much! With a 200 word limit you have to be as descriptive as you can, while covering your action.

I've perfected these drabble stories now, I think. As I started posting them a several years ago now. I've been told I apparently invented the 'drabble story,' as no one did it before me. lol.

This is the first double drabble one I'm attempting. It's actually easier than writing only 100 word chapters. Speaking of which, there's lots more chapters to come! "D

PS It's been a long time since I've been to NYC. I don't travel well unless someone drives me, and forget mass transportation with a 'walker.' Yikes!

Hahahaha! Not hard to figure out they were going to get in trouble for driving down a one way street and leaving the van there. But then again GREAT minds think alike! Some surprises to follow though.

Oh no! In trouble with the police, are they?

I took a great photo of a huge waterspout on Lake Erie. It was just off shore and the closest I've ever been to one. That photo made it into our local newspaper. My 15 seconds of fame. LOL!

Hey they can't get away with everything can they? Woo Whooo! 15 seconds of fame good for you. Never saw a water spout up close, nor a tornado (but I came close as one was forming then stopped) I've seen enough N'or Easters, Hurricanes and blizzards, thunder snow and severe lightning to satisfy me. Though I'm still a kid at heart and they do excite me. Chuckle.
