"Weather or Not" a double drabble story- Chapter 15

The agents made it in record time to the park, taking the 79th Street Traverse, though this time they were sure to park the car in a safe place. It was but three minutes by foot to the castle and they could see it in the distance; its grey tower rising into the air.

As they headed towards the castle, the temperature took a severe plunge and it began to snow. Winds howled.

It became a white out, just like a blizzard.

Neither man was prepared for this onslaught of nature; they could barely stand, fighting the wind driven snow.

“There!”Napoleon shouted.

Together they scrambled up the narrow steps, fighting the blinding weather. As suddenly as it had begun, the storm stopped, allowing them to a get a good view of their destination.

Belvedere Castle was small, with a Manhattan schist facade and a grand turret reaching upwards. It must have been a sight in its heyday; still it was nothing compared to the grand castles of Europe and was more like a dollhouse, marred with graffiti.

Now boarded up, covered in tendrils of ivy as it had been abandoned to the elements and now who knew what else?

It's quite a terrifying idea that someone could produce severe and destructive weather from out of nowhere.

I like the references to the castle looking nothing like the grand castles of Europe. There are four large castles within half an hour's journey from my house.

I've been in a couple of Irish castles, or what's left of them, St. John's in Limerick, Blarney Castle. Kilkenny Castle and in to the top of a round tower in Kilkenny (that was cool as my friends used to play hooky there from school)

Never been to Belvedere though. It's been rejuvenated and brought back to life and looks really cool.

It was originally built as a tourist attraction, as were a lot of sights in Central Park.

Thanks for keeping up with the story. More tomorrow and through the weekend. Only holding off on chapters Monday and Tuesday because of Short Affair and PicFic.

Gotta tell you, I'm on a writing spree right now. Just finished a huge story for Lindafishes, and will post that in chapters once all my WIPs are done.

I have 3 other long stories in progress too. Striking while the iron is hot!

Well the longer stories are ones that I've been working on for a very long time. I don't remember but Lindafishes said I started her story for her after I had my stroke. It's possible, but anything I update something in G-docs, the original date changes.

But it has helped that the prompts for so many challenges have really been inspiring! That really helps.
