Title: Getting your priorities straight

Word Count: 335

Squatting in the muddy ground on a rainy spring day was not exactly what Napoleon Solo had in mind for what he’d be doing today, but duty called of course.

He and Illya were soaked through and were both on edge, losing their patience as the intelligence they’d been given wasn’t accurate at all.

“I do not think they are going to show,”Kuryakin whispered. The only comment he received to that was a bizarre little ditty uttered by the American.

“Der spring is sprung

Der grass is riz

I wonder where dem boidies is?

Dem little boids is on der wing

Ain't dat absoid?

Der little wings is on de boid.”

“What in blazes was that?” Illya stared at him, wide eyed.

“You know I can’t recall where it came from but it’s just something I read once and it seemed apropos to us waiting for our THRUSH friends to show their tail feathers.”

“Napoleon you have some of the strangest things come to mind at times, I must admit.”

“And Illya my friend, I must admit that I am bored, wet and tired of waiting. It’s been three hours or so, hasn’t it.”

Kuryakin looked at his wristwatch.” Good thing this is waterproof.” He gave it a tap just to make sure it was running.

“We have been here three hours, fifteen minutes and forty-seven seconds to be precise.”

“To be precise.”

“I think I said that already….achoo!” Illya went red in the face as he sneezed. “I think I am getting a cold.”

“Well that does it. Them boidies are a no show, you’re getting sick and well, I’ve had it. Let’s go tovarisch. You need to get to bed, and get some hot food into you.”

“Not necessarily in that order,” Illya nodded.”Must have our priorities straight. Achoo!”

“Gesundheit.”

“Danke.”

Achoo!” Napoleon suddenly let out a muffled sneeze as well. “Yeah prioritizing is definitely in order; maybe some chicken soup first...well after I contact Mr. Waverly that is.”

“What in blazes was that?” I can hear that line!

Poor Illya, sitting in the rain, getting a cold, and having to deal with Napoleon's strange sense of humor all at the same time.

Aww, some of the less glamorous parts of the spy business. Of course, post-mission soup is a good thing...

LOL. I love that you used the poem from the prompt :-)

I definitely agree with Illya about priorities. Food should always come first.
