"Ouch"~ For the PicFic Tuesday Challenge

"Oh my God, Napoleon are you all right?" Wanda stood behind the desk at the agent's entrance.
He slowly moved forward, somewhat battered and bruised.
"We'll be fine, just a minor car accident on Fifth Avenue."
"Poor baby, is there anything I can do," she pinned on his ID badge as usual.
"At the moment, nothing but give me a little time to come up with something," he winked at her, but winced as he was developing a lovely bruise on his cheekbone.
Kuryakin stepped from behind his partner, slightly more beat up than Solo, with two black eyes, a swollen bottom lip and a cut on his head just above the hairline. He'd tried staunching the blood with his handkerchief, but head wounds, even when minor tended to bleed, sometimes profusely.
He held out his hand his free hand waiting for his badge, as usual.
"Oh Illya sorry. You okay?"
"Fat lot you care," he growled before snatching the ID from her hand and limped away in a huff.
The partners headed through the door to the busy grey corridor, leaving Wanda with a ‘what was that all about’ expression on her face.
"Are you coming up to Medical with me or not?"Illya snapped at Solo.
"You're really going?"
"Did I not just say that? Why must I repeat myself?"
Napoleon was taken aback at Illya's tone of voice. "Other than being banged up a bit, what's wrong with you?"
"You did not see?"
"See what?" Napoleon stopped, looking his partner up and down.
"Do not bother yourself, if you did not notice then what is the point?" Illya tried walking away but Solo wouldn't have it.
"Come on, what's wrong tovarisch?" He stopped the Russian by taking hold of his arm but Illya pulled free.
"Leave me be. Like everything else this too shall pass." He dismissed Solo with a wave of his hand.
Napoleon took the hint and let Illya disappear around the corner. He spied him getting on the elevator; was he really going up to Medical?"
He decided to wait and take the elevator up a few minutes after his partner. It wouldn't hurt to get looked over, though it wasn't a serious accident...well for the two of them; the silver convertible had a fair amount of damage.
It wasn't his fault; a yellow cab ran a red light and slammed into them. The police came, taking care of business and gave the agents a ride back to headquarters after they refused medical treatment; it was better to be looked at by and UNCLE physician, at least that’s what Illya said.
After greeting the duty nurses at the desk he found out Illya had indeed come up to be looked over.
Napoleon was led into another room to be examined and after being given a gown he stripped down for the doctor to take a look. Though seemingly fine, it was decided Solo would be kept overnight for observation.
Illya needed some stitches but like his partner, was fine. He was not happy about being kept in a hospital bed but upon finding out his partner was staying as well, Kuryakin requested, no...demanded separate rooms.
"Napoleon," Nurse Walsh walked into his room."What is wrong with Illya? Did you two have a fight?"
She stuck a thermometer under his tongue before he could answer, and took his pulse as well."
"Your pulse is racing." She finally removed the thermometer.
"That's because of you," he crooned.
"Yeah right. You're normal as ever handsome, but your suavity and cunning...well, none of your tricks are going to work on me. Now about Illya?"
Nothing Nurse Walsh said phased him in the least. "I have no idea what's wrong with him. We didn't have an argument, and he wouldn't tell me what was wrong. Right after we came into headquarters. I got my badge from Wanda... after which Illya got his as well; that’s when he became cranky."
“Oh no!” Napoleon moaned, “That’s what’s wrong.”
"What?"
"I think our Russian is feeling a bit overlooked. Wanda was paying attention to me and pretty much ignored him. He challenged me on it, asking if I hadn't seen it. Damn, that's what he meant!"
"Oh poor man, feeling neglected. Well we'll have to do something about that and I think you need to apologize to him,” she wagged her finger at him.
"You're right." Napoleon pulled back the sheet, and swung his legs over the side of the bed.
"Oh no Mister, not on my time! You stay right where you are and I mean it." She lifted his legs and covered them.
“My heart be still, you touched my legs. Any chance of getting you to touch me again...say my lips?
“Napoleon Solo you are incorrigible!”
"Yes Ma'am!" He saluted. "So how about going out with me after I'm released tomorrow."
"Napoleon you know better. My nursing staff is off limits when it comes to you agents...especially you."
A half hour later Nurse Walsh appeared in Illya's room carrying a food tray.
"It is past dinner time, is it not?" He asked.
"Well, I figured you wouldn't mind something to eat." She set the tray on his bed table and lifted the cover.
"Borscht?" His eyes went wide."Where...when did they start serving it here?"
"They didn't. I asked Wanda to go get it for you from Mintz's deli. It's cabbage...I hope that's what you like? They gave her sour cream for it." She popped open a takeout container filled with it.
Illya closed his eyes, breathing in the aroma and Nurse Walshe could see his tension simply melt away.
"It has been a while since I have had borscht, thank you!"
"Hey, you know Napoleon can't be the only one who gets all the attention,” she smiled at him.
Illya scooped a spoonful of the cream into the soup, before canting his head to the side."You spoke to him? I am guessing he finally figured out to what I was alluding."
"Oh that's a definite. He'll probably sneak in later as he wants to apologize. I told him to give you some time to yourself as Nurse Kelly will be in to give you a massage, and no arguments. You're getting some tender loving care whether you want it or not."
Illya tried not to smile because of his split lip.
"Thank you for your kindness. Though it is part of my training to be invisible, sometimes it is nice to be seen. I will graciously accept the attention."
"You're welcome. Illya, you come across as mysterious, definitely dangerous and unapproachable at times...what you call being invisible. Believe it or not, you’re less invisible here than you think you are. Just get your nose out of your files and journals and you just might see that.”Nurse Walsh winked at before closing the door.
Once the lights were dimmed and the duty nurses settled in at the desk for the night shift, Napoleon put on his robe and slippers and discreetly went off to see his partner.
"Knock knock," Napoleon whispered as he opened the door. He found the Russian simply lying back with his hands folded behind his head. He was staring at the ceiling.
Illya hiked himself up, not saying a word.
Napoleon, equally silent, pulled up the molded blue plastic chair beside the bed.
"How you feeling tovarisch?"
"Better. Nurse Walsh brought me a wonderful bowl of borscht with sour cream after which Nurse Kelly gave me a massage. I must say she is very good.”
"Really? You got food and a massage?"
"I just told you that. Did you not receive a meal and a massage as well?"
"No."
"Oh?" Illya nodded. He was waiting for one his partner’s usual comments.
"Look about today. I realized what you meant and I just want to apologize. You were ignored and that wasn't right, I will try my best not to let that happen again."
"Thank you Napoleon. Now should you not get back to your room before the nurses catch you."
"You didn't miss me?"
"Not your snoring, to say the least."
"I don't snore."
Illya flashed a brief but crooked smile.
"Tronutyy, tovarisch. Spokoynoy nochi,” Napoleon spoke in Russian.
"Yes touché and good night.” Illya made a point of not criticizing his partner’s accent this time. He simply closed his eyes, now content and relaxed. Though he couldn’t resist getting in just one dig.
“Oh by the way I have a date with Nurse Kelly on Saturday.”
It was Napoleon’s turn for his eyes to open wide.
”Really. Wait, I thought the nursing staff wouldn’t date any agents?”
“I guess I am an the exception to the rule. Now good night Napoleon.”
