“Napoleon, you have to admit that women are much more capable than American society believes.  April Dancer is the first female Section II, but I doubt she will be the last.  If you do not change your perception of women and their roles, I fear your tenure as CEA might be jeopardized.”

“You think Mr. Waverly would remove me?” Napoleon asked incredulously.

“I think it is within the realm of possibility.”  Napoleon stood and put on his coat.  “Where are you going?”

“Home.  You’ve given me a lot to think about, Partner.  ‘Night.”

You will make the right choice, Napoleon.

Waverly would never get rid of Napoleon Solo, but Illya planting that seed of doubt was a very clever move. Nice one.

I think Waverly will always do what is best for UNCLE whether it is bringing in a Soviet agent or 86ing his CEA if he has to. I don't think of him as a kindly old man; I think of him as an older master spy who is always five steps ahead of everyone else. He would want a CEA who works well with every agent, not just the men. I think Illya senses this and wants Napoleon to get up to speed quickly. Thanks for commenting.

Don't disagree with you there especially about Waverly. I don't see him as an old gent, He's a sly fox and always in the know. Napoleon is still recognized as the best UNCLE has in spite of his womanizing ways. When you say Waverly wants a CEA who works well with every agent, it intimates that Napoleon doesn't work well with women? I've never gotten that vibe about him from the show. If anything Illya was the one who wasn't always tolerant of women (not necessarily in Uncle I mean)

But doesn't matter, we each have our vision of these characters and yours is consistent and that's what's important in our storytelling.

No, what I meant to intimate is that his antiquated views of women, if he continued to keep them, would prove problematic. Think of this story as early on in April's career. You can't say that he doesn't work well with women because he's never worked with women as equals. The secretarial pool doesn't count. He sees women as people to be romanced and sexually conquered and Illya knows he needs to evolve.

Oh Napoleon does honor women, he just needs to change his view of what they can and can't do.

I'm not convinced he honors them, but his views were formed in the 50s and 60s so he needs to change his attitude. Thanks for commenting.
