A Steady Hand - A Little Drabble Do Ya! - Oct 26th

His hand shook as he aimed his weapon at the despicable man in front of him. It was a man who had been responsible for the deaths of dozens of people, and who had revelled in each and every one.

He brought his other hand to join the first, hoping that the double-handed grip would steady his aim. His shaking only seemed to intensify as the anger within him fought with his sense of justice.

A third hand was laid on top of the weapon and gently forced him to lower it.

“This is not our choice to make, Tovarisch.”

I hope you don't mind, but I borrowed slightly from your pic fic yesterday. In your story, Illya allowed himself to be judge, jury, and executioner because he was alone. I began wondering what would have happened if Napoleon had been with him.

I like to write occasionally about Illya's inner assassin.

Yes Illya definitely has his inner assassin, it's like an inner demon that just every once in a rare while he let's out. I related it to his brutal Soviet training. In a way he walks a fine line between light and darkness...

There's a few writers who delved into that idea.

A reader once said to me that with all the things I've put Illya through growing up and with his training, he should be a psychopath (ew shades of the new MFU movie) I told her that he kept it all in and in check because the lessons and love of his family. (at least in my stories)

I can imagine the inner conflict these two would have at times - the moral action versus the ability to be judge and jury and right what might not be done. This captures that so well in such few words. Well done.
