The twelve days of Christmas project.

Each day we'll be posting the UNCLE Christmas tree and we'd like
all the cousins to share a memory of Christmas' past as a comment,
 and leave as a present under the tree.

Feeling a bit better today, thanks for all the kind wished from everyone. It's bitter cold here, though no snow. I was thinking of my dog, the shepherd from when I was a kid.

She was an amazing friend and companion. Once Christmas I remember going into my backyard with her. It had snowed and I decided to build a snowman, but after playing with the dog I decided to build a snow puppy. It was modeled after Bunky, sitting up and begging. (she could do all sorts of tricks) And I used a rock for the nose and eyses, and put an old collar around the neck. We sent a photo of it to my brother and family down in Florida, and his daughter who was just a little one was delighted with the 'snow puppy.' She was too little to remember snow before they moved.

Though I don't know what happened to the photograph after all these years, I can still clearly see that snow puppy in my head.

So there's a happier memory today. Please post some of yours and keep the Project going?

Christmas has always been about family for me. When I was young, I remember waiting impatiently on Christmas Eve for my dad to close up the drug stores and come home so we could start the celebrating. My parents owned two drug stores and he was the main pharmacist in one, so he very seldom had true days off, but I knew that from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day, we would have him home to ourselves. The nice meals, midnight mass, and the presents were all second to having the whole family just spending time together.
