A Little Drabble Do Ya: Hurricane
Oct. 31st, 2012 09:23 amIllya and Napoleon stood looking out Mr. Waverly’s window at the pouring rain and heavy winds that was Hurricane Donna. The weather was ferocious; even THRUSH seemed to have hunkered down for the storm. The agents were sharing a room in HQ for the duration.
“This is something America has that the USSR does not envy.”
Napoleon nodded, “Fortunately, they don’t happen often. HQ’s metal walls are wind and waterproof, so all our technology is safe as is the staff.”
“If you gentlemen are finished storm watching, some of us have actual work to do.”
“We were just leaving, Sir.”

Date: 2012-10-31 03:58 pm (UTC)It was only six blocks from the school to my house but it was an amazing journey. I remember the snapping, sizzling power lines, and the power of the wind. The sound was enormous. For whatever reason, I wasn't afraid--probably childlike innocence of the danger. On the contrary, I found the experience exhilarating. The memory remains vivid, fifty years later.
