It's been just a little more than a year since Section VII hosted its first post. Since then we have enjoyed a series of challenges and random postings from writers from multiple countries, as well as various locations throughout the USA. It has been, much like the organization we hope to emulate, an exercise in cross cultural exchanges and mission based story telling after the fashion of the original series.
I want to personally say Thank You to all who have contributed by sharing your stories and talents with all of us who can't seem to satisfy our hunger for more MFU. It is worth mentioning that in this past year the contributors to this comm have been responsible for adding a substantial number of stories to our fandom. I haven't counted them all up yet, but you did the boys in Public Relations proud.
The goal of this community was, from the beginning, to reflect the feel and spirit of the show with quality stories revolving around their work, and the comaraderie engendered by the aspirations of the U.N.C.L.E. Solo and Kuryakin have inspired us, led us on a merry chase as we met challenges, interpreted photos and celebrated what we love about the Man from UNCLE. The only agenda was the one that cried out for more stories, and by the looks of the numbers provided by LJ's stats squad, the readers agreed with it.
2013 will see the continuation of the PicFic Tuesday photo prompts, A Little Drabble Do Ya and a new challenge: QuoteMe. I hope we'll see even more writers taking advantage of the most active writing comm within the MFU LJ venue. It is the continuing goal of Section VII to host writers who have stories to tell. I also hope those who read will continue to visit and encourage those who bare their creative souls in the stories they tell. We write because we love it, and with the hope that our efforts will be enjoyed by others.
Happy Anniversary to all of you who are Section VII.

This is an expanded story based on chapter 20 of my 'Randomness of Life' drabble series.

It was in the early Ukrainain spring when most of the snows had retreated and young Illya Nickovich ventured out in front of his families dacha to play. Being a typical little boy he was covered in mud in no time as he stamped his feet in half frozen puddles, just for the sheer joy of hearing the thin layers of ice crackle beneath his feet.
