A few notes before the story begins.
The first three (and a half) stories in this little series are listed here so that, if you're interested in the history and haven't read them, you can do so.  I recommend it, because otherwise this story today is remarkably less than it should be.

Once In Love With Amy
Relatively Speaking
To Dance With The Stars

Amy is, in my mind, a double for Ann Margret.  That's just the way she turned out.
The prompt, just so you can get in the mood (after you read the first three stories ;)

I have closed the poll.

The winner is... Mood-Y!

It scored an average preference of 4.85. (Range of 1 to 5, with 1 least preferred and 5 most preferred.) So the Mood-Y writing challenge will be put on the calendar for [livejournal.com profile] section7mfu for next year. Look for more details as year-end gets closer.

If you wish to view the final results of this poll, you can do so here.

Napoleon Solo and his partner passed under the brightly lit neon marquee of the Roseland ballroom, both were elegantly attired in tuxedos for what was to be a special evening.

As they stepped inside the first thing they noticed was the purple and cerise tent-like decor that created a definite harem effect. A big band was playing, and the room was filled with people enjoying the music while they danced, or stood drinking at the bar in the cocktail lounge.

Tonight it would be all about dancing; cheek to cheek dancing, and celebrating a happy occasion.

Napoleon paused, surveying the dance floor, noting couples ranged in age from young to old, but there was only one woman for which his eyes searched.

“There she is,” Illya nodded to the left with his head. They both saw a hand raise above the crowd, waving a white linen handkerchief.

Illya reappeared, waiting his turn.”If you are not too tired, may I have the next dance?”

"But of course," she replied in Russian.

“Very good,” Illya finally smiled. “You speak better Russian than Napoleon, but we will not tell him that. I do tease him unmercifully about his accents, especially his French.”

“That’s because, Illya dear, you’re not accustomed to the French-Canadian way of speaking. That’s where his mother’s side of the family hails from.”

“I never knew that. I must look into this French-Canadian dialect. Languages are so fascinating, many of them are related to...”

Well, QuoteME: Challenge 4 is in the books, and thanks and kudos to all those who participated!

We're coming into the home stretch with regard to the QuoteME challenges. With the posting dates for Challenge 5 falling just prior to Halloween, I thought I'd provide a quote that could possibly provide a lean toward "things that go bump in the night" ...or not... depending entirely on interpretation.

So without further ado, here is the quote for QuoteME: Challenge 5...

THE QUOTE: The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness.
MADE BY: Joseph Conrad

CHALLENGE: Write an MFU fanfic story regarding the idea embodied in the above quote. The quote doesn't have to verbally appear within the context of the story; the idea it embodies just needs to be captured in that story. The quote, however, should be placed separately at the top of the story.

STATISTICAL STUFF: Minimum of 500 words (no drabbles) with no set maximum. Must fit into the overall concepts of this community, i.e., contain no explicit adult material and reflect the 1960s series in style and content.

POSTING: To this forum (and on dreamwidth and fanfiction dot net), starting on October 20th and ending on October 26th.
