It's hard to believe it happened 50 years ago to the day, the assassination of John F. Kennedy. My memories are spotty, but I'll never forget the emotions that surrounded this horrendous event and the days that followed.

"It was a November day" addresses those feelings from Illya's point of view. One of my readers made this succinct comment on my story:

"We follow his melancholy trail and his temporary satisfaction. The historical event is almost a mere footnote; it is too shocking to analyze its global significance yet. The study zooms in on one individual as opposed to an entire nation, and his very personal implications. The story has a gentle flow throughout and then as sudden as a bullet, Reality strikes."

I hope you enjoy this emotional story, and please let me know what you think of it on this significant anniversary...

Since it is the anniversary of the assassination of JFK, thought I would go with this story regarding a watershed moment in the term of Kennedy's presidency: The Cuban Missile Crisis. And this one definitely showcases Napoleon's special brand of optimism as well, a nod to Robert Vaughn's birthday.

This one was orignally written for the 2011 Valentines Day Challenge on [livejournal.com profile] mfu_scrapbook.

The Kindness Of Strangers

This is the first story I ever wrote. I posted it to FanFic.net on Thanksgiving three years ago as a 'thank you' to all the authors whose stories I'd been reading. I've always felt that, when you receive a gift, you should try to balance the scales by giving back. The stories I'd been reading gave me so much pleasure, and reminded me of why I loved MFU all those years ago. "The Kindness Of Strangers" is my attempt to give something back.  Happy Thanksgiving, Cousins!

This was written for DTC two years ago, a piece that was challenging and ultimately satisfying for me and, I hope, readers as well.  It does have some reflection of the era we're remembering today in regard to Kennedy's presidency, the conflict of the Cold War and the reality of what was a very real and tragic event on foreign shores.
