It's back to business as usual. Time for you writers to post a link to your favorite story here on Section VII!  It doesn't have to be holiday related, but since we're still in a holiday mood, feel free to post a link to your U.N.C.L.E. holiday story if you like.  When posting your link give us a little summary about your story, or tell us what elements you like about it.  Remember the fic can be a previously posted story or a new one...whichever you like!

Looking forward to more good reading!

Napoleon and Illya both have different plans to ring in the new year, but life throws a curve...as usual. Some introspective moments from Illya regarding his partner and Napoleon...well being himself. Enjoy!  Comments are appreciated!

This is something I wrote a few years ago after watching one of the Narnia movies.  I may have posted it here previously but it's one that I think may merit reading once again.  I hope you enjoy it.

The “After the Affair” Affair

Why I Like It: I always wondered about the fallout from Napoleon’s freewheeling ways about sex; if any of his conquests were disappointed when they discovered they were just a one night stand. What if that didn’t sit well?

This story is also a lesson for me. If I had truly let the story play out the way it was supposed to it would have been almost 50k words. I didn’t want to write a tale that long so I “strangled” it into submission to get it to 6600. It hurt the story and even though I do like the tale, it would have been better if I had just let the story tell itself. This story taught me to let the story unfold naturally and let it be as long as it needs to be.

The link takes you to AO3.

I was kindly invited to post my only completed Man from U.N.C.L.E story here, for the Writer's Choice, as it was too late for the "Twelve Days of Christmas".

Because actually, yes, it's a Christmas story, though of a rather peculiar type. I wrote the first chapter for one of the earlier "Down the Chimney" Challenge with quite traditional "christmassy" prompts. My unfortunate "beneficiary" must have been very disappointed for I never got a word from her. Which I completely understood as I had chosen to write the least christmassy Christmas story ever! No, don't be afraid, there is nothing evil in it but all the Christmas folklore is put upside down. It takes place during the Xmas Eve, Napoleon and Illya are in jail after a failed mission, totally powerless and unable to escape, simply because they are not allowed to escape! I wanted to show what could happen in the real world if U.N.C.L.E was a real organization, obliged to abide by the ordinary rules governing all other international institutions.

I also played with other tropes, common in fanfiction. It's a gen story but the background and premises are of a kind frequently found in slash; in this story the same conditions (of forced intimacy) lead our heroes to completely opposite developments. Nothing expected happens: the villain is not the villain; the innocent who saves the day was first among the bad guys; M Waverly has to pay the bills and the meal cooked by Napoleon at the end is a disaster!

So if you dare to face this sacrilegious attempt go to: http://archiveofourown.org/works/467866 (sorry, I forgot how to create a proper link).
