Ignorance Is Not Bliss...

There's a lot of it running rampant in these parts.  Ignorance calls people names in an effort to provoke a reaction, and it responds when the name calling cuts too deep.  Ignorance rushes into the fray and indulges itself by stirring up more strife until the atmosphere is thick with misunderstanding and suspicion.
There is no excuse for the kind of behavior that has come into question in the past few days.  Section VII will never tolerate abusive language or pointedly incendiary comments that target a group or belief system.  We're not here to make judgements about what people do in their private lives, we're here to write fiction for a television series we love and embrace.  So far we've remained free of the kind of trouble that was served up on that other comm, perhaps because we just stick to writing.
Let's continue on in that spirit of shared interest and enjoyment of the men whose lives embody tolerance and inclusiveness.  I want everyone to feel safe, and if anyone ever feels bullied or targeted, please let me know.
I'll reiterate once more what I have said previously: We are a Gen site because we like Gen, not because we're anti something else.  Whether we love television or comics, let's remain true to the joy that our stories produce, and leave the negative stuff outside.

Writer's Choice is here again! It's time to toot your horn and post a link to a MFU fic that's been penned by you, (or readers, by your favorite author) Give is a little synopsis of the story, and what you like about it! And please only links appropriate to Section VII as we are a Gen site.

Writers love to write, but just like a musician on a stage, they need a little feedback now and then to let them know you like what they're doing. Writer's Choice: A Pair of Cuff Links

Because I have always been fascinated by men's cuff links. My father, a machinist most of the week, used to dress up for church on Sunday and wore French cuff shirts with cuff links. He left some of the sets to me when he died.

RV's Solo also wore cuff links of course (as was the style in those days) and it was hard to miss since RV had a habit of shooting his cuffs, which many fanfic writers have incorporated into the character. This was meant as a short character study. I have based Solo's childhood on Norman Felton's original notes for the character.

A Pair of Cuff Links

He finds it wedged into the corner of a stair, nestled on carpet as thick as velvet, like the jewelry he's seen in display cases: small and gold, a single cuff link. He has another scavenged cuff link stashed in the cigar box hidden under his bed, but this one looks different. While the first was also gold but plain and square, this one is shaped like the stubborn knot on a shoe lace.

Summary: Napoleon and Illya are on separate vacations but Illya's goes in an unexpected direction.  Just a little humor.
