It was hot, unbearably so for Illya Kuryakin. Though he’d finally become accustomed to warmer temperatures living in New York; today was an exception.

The thermometer hanging near his  living room window read 95 degrees and it was only 10 o’clock in the morning.

His skin was drenched with perspiration even though he’d jumped into his his shower several times; running the tepid water that should have been cold. It didn’t really help. Neither did the cold bottle of vodka he held against his temple....

Good morning, guten morgen, bon matin & dobroye utro.

The sun is shining, the birds are singing (which isn't annoying me as much as usual), and I am in a rare positive frame of mind. I woke up this way, and it was fortified when I came onto LJ to post this, and saw a beautiful act of kindness from one cousin to another. My faith in humanity was restored.

Anyway, on to the task at hand. It's once again prompt day for the Short Affair challenge. You will find everything you need to know beneath the cut. The fates have given us an strange and interesting pair of words to chose from.

Peeking over the edge of the ornamental fountain, Napoleon looked forlornly at the gun he’d dropped. The black weapon stood out against the lush green lawn, almost mocking the predicament he’d got himself into. There was simply no way of recovering it without drawing fire from the gunmen on the balcony, overlooking the garden. Shuffling into a seated position, Napoleon pulled out his communicator and called Illya.

“I’m in a little trouble, Tovarisch,” he whispered into the device.
