Writer's Choice - Brothers and One Step

These two stories were related in that I utilized the friendship between Jonathan and David and passages from the book of 1 Samuel.  In the second story the person of King Saul is the imagery of those who would persecute the Soviet outsider, an obvious favorite of Waverly, the symbolic god of UNCLE.

The two men were struggling to reach the crest of the hill, the taller man practically carrying the other smaller one whose dangling right arm dripped a trail of blood behind them. He knew a chopper would be waiting for them up on top, but not here below where it was too dense for a landing. Just a hundred yards and they would be there, if only the relentless pursuers could be outrun. As they headed up and into the last fifty yards, a shot rang out, then another. The ground was taking the brunt of the attack, but the band of Thrush were gaining on them until finally, he saw the outline of the rescue ship and felt the welcome relief of helping hands as he climbed onboard. The pilot lost no time and took off as a foot was still being pulled into the interior. The elegant craft deflected more bullets, but it rose under the whooping rush of the blades, and turned to the east as it continued to climb, leaving behind the remnant of the outpost that the two escaping men had so thoroughly destroyed.

This was originally posted for one of LaH Carabele's 'HOWDOWE' challanges. I particularly enjoyed doing the research for this one, acutally a surprising amount of research given it's a shorter fic.  Hope you enjoy it. Comments here are most welcome!

 

At a 16th century Renaissance style home outside of Amsterdam, the preparations for an impending nuptial of were rising to a near fevered pitch as the event loomed closer. The deep, resonating chime of a nearby church bell sounded; telling everyone the moment of departure had at last arrived. It was not a royal wedding but still, many royals would be in attendance.

Hans Ludwig Peter Rudolph Adalbrecht Leonhard Lippe-Biestervald, a very distant cousin of the Prince consort to Queen Juliana was getting married. Hans was of royal lineage, in spite of the Lippe- Biesterfelds having lost their Principality of Lippe long ago. It disappeared, and the revenue that had accompanied it, during d World War I...yet still they remained a well to do European family.

Writer's Choice - June 20th

Last August, I indulged in my favourite pastime of hurting Illya, (I know, there's nothing new there). I wrote a story in which our favourite Russian is used as a teaching aid in a THRUSH torture class. A while later, I wrote a companion piece telling the story from Napoleon's side, but it didn't feel finished. I did a third installment, dealing with the aftermath.

There are two versions of the first story. The extended version is more violent than the original so it's up to you which version you want to read. The links will take you to ff.net.
