Chajka's The Danse Manchac Affair would deserve a strong rec in any season, but seems to fit Halloween particularly well,

What if you could choose to be any age, any place in the world, and meet one of the two men we've been drooling over since we were kids.  Well, most of us fit into that category.
Would you age more quickly and meet up with Illya Kuryakin in an exotic locale with  your reputation at stake and your heart uncaring for such things?
Would you be there when they return to the job in the early 80's, with your big hair and post disco attitude?
Or would you meet a silver-haired Solo somewhere in London, or the beguiling Scot, er sorry... Russian, over a quiet supper and copious amounts of vodka (still his favorite drink).
What is your fantasy concerning these two, and when would you have lived it?

Chapter 11

It was just before sunrise when Cavendish presented his mistress with the note addressed to her by Solo.

She’d risen early to begin preparations for the bishop’s arrival, which usually meant getting the staff to snap to in their cleaning.

Everything had to be just right. Charles needed to make a good impression and as his wife she’d see to it their home was in perfect order and a welcome sight for the clergyman.

Maude knew instantly before even looking the note that Napoleon was off to save those children. When reading Illya had gone with him, she fumed.

“How could he do that? Illya’s an injured man!” She paced back and forth.“Cavendish, do you know when they left?”

“Yes Madam, it was but twenty minutes ago...they took the Healey.”

“Hmmm. Cavendish, go get the Jag ready. We’re taking a little drive.”

“Yes Ma’am, will you be driving yourself or should I fetch Compton to drive you?”

“No I’ll take care of it myself. Now quickly Cavendish, I’m losing time.”

"C'mon Illya, we're going to be late."

"I do not know why I agreed to this," Kuryakin mumbled sulkily.

"You thought it was a good idea last week."

"That was before you volunteered me for this job."

"You're the one who always likes the opportunity to wear a disguise. What's wrong with this one?"

"Everything."

Mark and April emerged from a noisy room, looking disheveled.

"Good luck mates, you'll need it."

"I'd rather face THRUSH than go back in there," April added.

"Illya, it's a kids party, with a face like that you'll scare them,  clowns are supposed to laugh."

Napoleon, in top hat and Magicians cape, presented the bunch of silk flowers he'd just made appear from a flaming candle, to a little girl in the front row.

Illya, dressed in a bright clowns outfit hovered at the back of the room, glad the children's attention had been diverted from him.

Armed goons and life threatening situations he could cope with, 35 screaming kids were something else - completely.

After the party Napoleon discovered something sticky had appeared down his trousers, prompting a grin from the Russian.

Napoleon glared at his partner.

"What? It was you told me clowns laugh."

After helping a friend with her 6 year olds party today, I couldn't resist writing this double drabble! Now to bed!!!
