"Weather or not" a double drabble story, chapter 10

They stood, forlorn and long-faced as they were shoved into a cell. The place stank of urine and booze; their only companion a fellow who’d been brought in for public intoxication.

“Hey don’t we get a phone call?” Napoleon shouted as the door was locked behind them with a loud clang. The officer seemingly ignored his question.

They’d been relieved of all their possessions, other than a few ‘accoutrements’ like exploding buttons and explosive putty in the heels of their shoes.

Since they weren’t in the hands of the enemy, they deemed using them would be inappropriate, even though Illya really wanted to rig putty in the lock and escape.

A half hour later an officer appeared with a tray of food; three plates of creamed chipped beef on toast.

Even Illya eyed it suspiciously as it didn’t look very appetizing; like his partner, his mind was on the weather anomalies plus the safety of the equipment in the van.

“When do I get to make my call?”Napoleon asked again.

“Keep your shirt on Bub, you’ll get your call when we’re ready.”

“Hey you gonna eat that buddy?” The drunk finally spoke.

Napoleon crinkled his nose. “Be my guest.”

What's My Line? - Prompt for 3/3-7

In 1964 the Beatles made a movie, A  Hard Day's Night.  These are four of the song titles:
Can't Buy Me Love; You Can't Do That; And I love Her; I Should Have Known Better.
Any of those are your prompts for next week.  It's just about the song title, but the trailer below lets us look again at the 60's and relate it to our writing. Remember, the Beatles were fans of MFU, and the evolution of MFU was very much a reflection of the influence of rock and roll.
In March we'll be reintroducing the Song Story Challenge, so this is a little nod to that.  I'm looking forward to what alynwa has for us.

The cellar was cold and damp, and after two and a bit days Napoleon and Illya had had more than enough of being locked up in it. They’d been taken unawares while heading out for a double date and Napoleon wasn’t looking forward to facing the girls they had unexpectedly stood up. It had taken him two months to get a date with Michaela and she’d only agreed if he provided a date for her friend.
