These prompts are for August 1st. August 1st! Already!

As we’re heading into the height of summer (for the Northern Hemisphere anyway), how about some stories with a summery theme? You don’t have to of course, but the prompts seem to lend themselves to it. You’ll find them below the cut, along with the rules.

There is still plenty of time to contribute to today’s posts from last week’s prompts. If you want to join in, you’ll find those prompts right here.

Title: “Kite flying, among other things”

Word count: Approximately 450

It was captivating as the triangular red kite floated in the air, it had a silver ribbon for its tail that fluttered and undulated as it danced gracefully in the wind.

Illya Kuryakin, dressed in a pair of dungarees, sneakers and a white tee shirt, stood there with a pair of large sunglasses perched on his nose as he kept the kite aloft.

That was the signal for his contact...a red kite with a white lightning bolt on it, and a silver tail. There were no others like it among the dozens that dotted the sky.

Illya was relaxing in his room listening to Thelonious Monk playing softly in the background.  He and Napoleon had returned home two days earlier after an extended mission that had Illya working undercover as a busboy in a THRUSH – backed restaurant in Liechtenstein while his partner played the role of a very rich, spoiled playboy in an effort to gain the attention of the restaurant’s owner, a beautiful brunette who became enamored of the dashing Texan Napoleon portrayed.
