Monday is with us once again and you know what that means. It is Short Affair Day. So, come along and give us a story between 300 and 1000 words, using your preferred combination of prompts. (I don’t mind if you go over 1000,but try not to go over by too much)

Everything you need to know for next week’s entries is below the cut.

There is still plenty of time to contribute to today’s posts from last week’s prompts. If you want to join in, you’ll find those prompts right here.

Remember, Section VII is a Gen site, but stories which are Het, Long-term Romance or AU can be posted in the Map Room. You’ll find the link for it down the side there.

Have fun.

Section VII always runs somethng for
with the event ending before the start of
the Halloween Challenge in Scrapbook.

We're having a Round Robin this year! Halloween opens the door wide for spooky, scary, angsty and yes...silly chapters. At this point we're looking at a minimum 100 word chapters with no maximum so that leaves the writers with plenty of wiggle room.

Interested in joining in? Leave a comment and let me know!

It's going to be based on a previously written Halloween story that sets the scene for all sorts of possibilities.

The start date will be in October, but to be determined based on the number of sign-ups. The rotation will be posted once we're ready to go.  If you end up having a timing issue (like access to the internet when it's your turn) You can ask another writer to change places with you.

So far our writers are: ssclassof56, insaneladybug, pfrye, leetheT, avery11, katbybee, mrua7, glennagirl, lindafishes8, alynwa, otherhawk and now avirra have all signed up.

The more writers the 'scarier...' ahem, 'merrier.'

These challenges are always fun, and not a lot of writing is required.  Most likely a 100 word minimum, with no maximum on your chapter. 1-2 go rounds...depending on how many writers join in.

There's still time to think about it of course! It's only September 5th. But don't wait too long. You can always pm me if you want to join in and I'll add your name to the list.

Everyone who signs up will be given plenty of notice on the start date and the final parameters of the challenge.

      “Cock-a-doodle-dooo!”

The crowing of a cockerel startled the two lovers, lying in one another’s arms beneath the bushes. They giggled and kissed again.

       “Mwoooaah!”

Lucy pulled away from the kiss and raised her head.

“Did you hear a cow or am I going loopy?”

Her companion raised himself on his left elbow and stared at her, listening hard.

       “Mwoooaah!”

“Unless we’re both going loopy. But there are no cows in Central Park.”

They listened, but all they could hear now were the birds twittering and the distant sound of children playing.

They arrived at the stately Italian hotel, having been ferried there in a small motor boat across a lake. Sitting quietly was shabbily dressed man accompanied by a dark haired fellow, dressed in a well fitted grey suit. Beside him was a smaller somewhat shaggy haired blond dressed completely in black.

Keeping their distance from the other passengers; the only thing noticeable was the fact that the blond man looked rather uncomfortable. It seemed he was a little sea sick.

“I have never hated an Innocent before, but I hate this one,” Napoleon muttered from the back seat of the sedan his partner was driving.  “If the mission didn’t depend on Natalie’s being safely delivered to HQ, I would have wrung her neck, literally, when she bit me.”

September had barely begun, yet the trees which the two U.N.C.L.E. were passing were already starting to show the orange hues of autumn. From the passenger seat of the car came an audible sigh. Illya Kuryakin glanced over at his partner, who was staring wistfully at the trees.

Car Pirates

“I always wanted to try a life of piracy,” Napoleon remarked, steadying the parrot cage with one hand and firing backwards through the window with the other.

Illya kept his foot down and his eyes on the road. “Traditionally, the life of piracy has involved a lot of time in the sea. You would hate it.”

On the sea, not in the sea,” Napoleon corrected. “If I was a dashing pirate I'd have no intention of going into the water.”

You don't have any intention of going into the water now,” Illya said, entirely accurately. “It still happens regularly. How many of them are behind us now?”

Three,” Napoleon told him, glancing back.
