Thursday was a 'day of firsts'- posting links to the first story written or posted by the cousins here in Section VII.

Today I'd like to ask those same cousins (and anyone else) to rec which of your stories that seemed represent to you, a turning point in your writing. Perhaps it's your second story or one you wrote much later that shows a maturity or growth in your fan fiction.

What story in your collection stands out to you?

Writers, post a link to that story, or repost it here in full if you like.
Readers, post links to your favorite stories.

Post your gen/gen-mature rec's in [livejournal.com profile] section7mfu,
pre-slash/slash rec's in [livejournal.com profile] uncle_du_jour, and
het, au, romance rec's in[livejournal.com profile] mfu_map_room

Section VII always has a event for Halloween

This year we're doing a Round Robin!

Halloween opens the door wide for spooky, scary, angsty and yes...silly chapters with demons,  werewolves, bats, vampires, monsters, ghosts, and goblins galore (don't forget the zombies) yep, all things that go bump in the night, and don't forget our fearless
Men from U.N.C.L.E.

At this point we're looking at minimum 100 word chapters with no maximum, so that leaves the writers with plenty of wiggle room.

It's going to be based on a previously written Halloween story that sets the scene for all sorts of possibilities.

The start date will be in October, but to be determined based on the number of sign-ups.
The rotation will be posted once we're ready to go.
If you end up having a timing issue (like no access to the internet when it's your turn)
You can ask another writer to switch places with you in the line up.

So far our writers are: ssclassof56, insaneladybug, pfrye, leetheT,
avery11, katbybee, mrua7, glennagirl, lindafishes8, alynwa,
otherhawk, avirra and selyndaep!

The more writers the 'scarier...' ahem, 'merrier.'
Leave a comment here to sign up or pm mrua7 to add your name to the list of writers.

These challenges are always fun, and not a lot of writing is required,
only 100 word minimum, with no maximum on your chapter.
1-2 go rounds (no more than that)...depending on how many writers join in.

There's still time to think about it of course!
It's only September 10th, but don't wait too long to sign up!
Everyone who signs up will be given plenty of notice on the start date,
the prompt, as well as the final parameters for the challenge.

There isn't one specific story of my own that I could say was a turning point for me, however there are several writer's whose stories lit a spark in me and inspired me to especially write my AU series of stories as well as my Illya backstories.

The "Mother Superior Tales," by Mary Catherine Marshall. Rosywonder's wonderful "Font of Life' series, and the one and only Pat Foley for her "Wonderland Series."

As a writer, I can't pick anything of mine to warrant re-posting, but as a reader, I really want to post a link to one of my favourite stories of all time; The Quiet Russian, written by our own Jantojones. This story I have read and re-read a dozen times or more, and I never tire of reading it. A brilliant piece of work. The link takes you to AO3
