Happy New Year Section VII !! May the year be filled with wonderful and engaging stories about our favourite guys.

The prompts and rules, for Short Affair stories due on January 8th, can all be found down below the cut. For stories due today, simply follow this link for the prompts.

Remember, Section VII is a Gen site, but stories which are Het, Long-term Romance or AU can be posted in mfu_map_room.

Posting directly to Section VII is still fine but, if you wish, you can post your story elsewhere and provide a link. Please say where the link leads as a lot of people are unwilling to go to certain sites. Don't forget, Section VII and the Map Room are both available on Dreamwidth, for those of you who can figure it out (Just let us know if you posted there).

Have fun.

Short Affair challenge 1 January 2018 (Measure. White – but nothing to do with New Year)
It was by no means my first job, but none of the others had been quite as unconventional as this one.

Subtle communication

First of all, access to the offices was through the most unlikely range of other businesses. The Section 2 agents even came in through a tailor’s shop. Other agents came in through other shops in the block. Ours was through a department store. There was also the garage, but only certain agents used the fleet of automobiles – and traffic in New York being what it was, the fleet was used out of town a lot more than in.

Anyhow, once inside – and once you found your office or laboratory, which wasn’t necessarily that easy given the uniform anonymity of all the corridors – it was friendly enough. I was given a locker, a white coat, some pens, and a place at a bench alongside one or two others, where I began to be inducted into the research they were working on.

I think Hilda, by Duane Bryer, has just the right attitude for a lover of MFU.  I also tend to think she has a huge crush on Napoleon Solo, something that could lead her into all sort of interesting situations.  I'm including a link to an article about the creation and relevance of Hilda in a world where her kind of self-love is a refreshing characteristic.  I hope  you enjoy spending the year with our new Calendar Girl.
Two new events are on the calendar: Post Your Prompt and Section VII Archives.  The first one is for anyone who has an idea to post a prompt for a story idea.  It's open to everyone, and all takers are invited to write and post on any day, giving the prompt and username of the person who submitted it.
Section VII Archives is just that.  I'll be posting links to stories from our archive, a wonderful respository of stories from the past six years.
It's a new year, a new opportunity for all of us to continue in the love fest we share with the men from UNCLE.

A pretty girl and a handsome young man, both engaged in some sort of cooking activity. The scene looked delightfully cozy to onlookers, should there have been any.

The phrase 'once upon a time' offers its own bit of inspiration...

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The fireworks, which heralded the arrival of 1965, were spectacular, but Napoleon Solo had no interest them. The hope of the new year had been superseded by the hope of survival.

The story isn't tedious, at least I don't think so... But it took me forever to get the thing posted in its entirety.  So, as I've just loaded it up to AO3, I'm posting the link in case someone wants to read it without the weeks of waiting that it took me to write this story.

Guess who has finally written a story for the Short Affair. Yours truly, that's who. It may not be on a par with Dostoevsky, but I'm starting the year as I mean to go on (hopefully).
