They Suffer for the World - Pic Fic Tuesday - Sept 18th

Okay, so, this story got away from me somewhat. I've gone weeks with a missing muse, then she returns and hands me this 5233 word piece. It's fairly unusual for me to write something this long, so I hope it works. (I'm also not too sure about that title.)
