The drive along the Belt Parkway heading away from the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge was a surprisingly pleasant one.

It was a beautiful day, the view of the river called the Narrows, was spectacular as the sunlight danced upon the water. Napoleon wished he had time to head out to the Hamptons where his boat, the Pursang, was berthed at his parent’s house.*

It would have been a perfect time to make a getaway on his tihirty-foot yacht; no one was home. No father with whom to argue yet again, no mother and sisters to fawn over him, not that he didn’t mind it, but sometimes it could be too much....

* Pursang was the name given to Napoleon's yacht by St. Crispins, and borrowed from her.

We will be having a Long Story challenge with a minimum word count of 5000.  The show premiered on September 22, 1964, which leads me to suggest we begin posting on September 22, 2019. That's a 55 year Anniversary, and I think an appropriate date for us to shoot for.
The stories should be:

  • Gen-centric (canonesque in nature, neither Het nor Slash)

  • Minimum 5000 words

  • Principle characters are Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin.  Other characters from the show and original characters are welcome, but our two heroes should carry the stories.

  • Two months and counting, so get out your words and put them into action!

My apologies for such a short story, but I'm just happy to write something.  Time has been short of opportunity.  This story will have more to it, I promise.  It's origin is in the story linked at the end, and may end up as the prologue to my Long Story Affair for that challenge.  I took liberties with the photo prompt, making is a black and white to better represent what is in the story.

The image in the photograph was at once familiar and unknown. Napoleon Solo looked again at the old black and white photo of a man in shadows, the profile of someone he knew and … didn’t recognize.
