Man from U.N.C.L.E. Section VII

You may think the door has closed on this challenge, but nay, 'tis not so.  You can still post a long story, 5000 word minimum and Gen in nature, by using the link to the AO3 Collection: Long Story Affair

Stories should be, as mentioned above, 5000 words (minimum), Gen, Napoleon and Illya centric.  Other series regulars and original characters welcome.  

We are looking for stories to fill this challenge as a nod to the 55th Anniversary of our show, The Man from UNCLE.

We're getting close to our posting date of September 22, the 55th Anniversary of the premiere of The Man from UNCLE.  I hope there are ideas and words making their way onto the screens of many computers, because the event deserves our attention.  We are a fandom spanning decades, with untold millions of admirers of the heroes we write about.  Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin have become constant companions to us in our imaginations, in our attempts to keep their adventures fresh and compelling.

• Posting begins on September 22, 2019
• Genre is TV/Gen
• Principle characters should be Solo, Kuryakin and Waverly
• Additional characters welcome, including characters from the Girl from UNCLE
• Minimum word count is 5000

We will be having a Long Story challenge with a minimum word count of 5000.  The show premiered on September 22, 1964, which leads me to suggest we begin posting on September 22, 2019. That's a 55 year Anniversary, and I think an appropriate date for us to shoot for.
The stories should be:

• Gen-centric (canonesque in nature, neither Het nor Slash)



• Minimum 5000 words



• Principle characters are Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin.  Other characters from the show and original characters are welcome, but our two heroes should carry the stories.


Two months and counting, so get out your words and put them into action!

We've discussed it a bit in a post from earlier today, and I think we're due for writing something longer than 1000 words.  We had a 5000 word minimum during the 50th Anniversay mini bang that posted on AO3, and that's been five years ago.  So, if you have something you're working on already, just keep at it and post that if you're agreeable to it.  Or, start something brand new.  The paramaters will be broad on this one, including relationship stories, crossovers, or AU; as long as it fits into the Gen friendly nature of Section VII.

We'll talk more about where we'll be posting and the definite posting date.  At this point you have at least two months, so we're probably looking at some time in September.  As that would correspond to the 55th Anniversary of the show's first episode, maybe we'll track down that date and make it our target.
