About Balaclava

They're not just for bank robbers — the balaclava is popular in cold climates and in certain sports. This close-fitting hat covers the whole head, neck and parts of the face, usually leaving only the eyes bare.

Did you Know?

This winter weather accessory came about because the British troops suffered in the cold during the Crimean War. Kind folks back home heard about their plight and started knitting. The special hat made to be worn under the helmet came to be called the balaclava, after the city of Balaklava in the Crimea.

I'll admit to being curious about how it's going for everyone, whether or not we're still having visitors, people checking to see what's being posted.  I can look at the stats and see numbers and the 'anonymous' lurkers, but I wonder how many are willing to just tick the heart icon to say you were here.

I'd expect that in these times, the internet activity is increased because of the stay at home orders we've mostly received.  Kentucky isn't on a severe lockdown, but we started early with following the recommendations and have kept our number of cases fairly low, thankfully.  Of course the landlocked states have fared the best in all of this, as opposed to the coastal states that have a steady stream of people due to shipping, tourism and any number of reasons for landing there.

Here on Section VII it would be nice to know how you're doing.  Some post on a regular basis, so we're accounted for.  Marian has moved and is in her new apartment, but she won't have internet for awhile.  I talk to her everyday, and can tell you that she's surrounded by boxes and still finishing up with the cleaning duties at the old apartment.  Kitties are all good, and the process of living in a new place has begun.

How about the rest of you, can you check in and let us know you're doing okay?  If you're willing, just respond in the comments.  Connecting is important, and I hope y'all will do that here.

I've been thinking it's Friday for two days, so I might as well post something intended for Saturday.
This is one of my personal favorites, if we're allowed to have one from among our own stories.  I enjoyed writing it, was pleased with it as a step forward in my development as a writer of this genre of fiction.  It spent its first year as a part of the Kuryakin Files, so it's been around.
You can find it on ff.net, I haven't gotten around to posting it on AO3 for some reason.
