THE FOREVER YOUNG BIRTHDAY AFFAIR

September 19, 1933. Every David McCallum fan knows this date. It’s his birth day, of course, and this year David will be 87!

Many of David’s faithful followers have asked me about coordinating another mass-mailing of birthday cards, fan letters, and postcards for our celebrated actor like the one I arranged 2 years ago. Duckys_lady and I arranged to have a special address set up at the NCIS studio where we sent the mail. But the address no longer exists and, with the studio shut down for the unforeseeable future, where will we send our cards now?

I have a plan.

During the filming of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” in the ‘60s, 40,000 letters a month came flooding into MGM Studios addressed to Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, more mail than any other time in Hollywood history. Can we break this record? Presenting David with a bountiful amount of mail for his 87th birthday could have an amazing and perhaps flabbergasting effect on him. Let’s give it a try and show David that he still has a wealth of devotees who have great affection for him!

What is the reason for setting up a PO Box and not mailing to David directly? I feel his home address is private and I'm not willing to post it.

Once I have collected (and counted) all your pieces of mail, I will forward it all together to David’s Manhattan apartment in time for his birthday.

I suggest you start picking out your card soon. Those of you who are artistically inclined may want to design a birthday greeting that reflects your own personal touch. International mail is slow, so get your card in the mail ASAP.

Today is the first day to post in the What If? challenge.  This is the prompt: 

What if...

Napoleon finds evidence that Illya is, in fact, spying for the USSR.  What will he do? What could possibly be the reason?

We also have Song Story, ABC 2020 Affair, Short Affair and A Little Drabble Do Ya.

I know this is a weird time to try and get the writing mojo going, I'm personally still on the road nearly every day with driving my cousin and his wife to dialysis (her), and now doctor visits for both of them.  My cousin has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, still waiting for the oncologist to say whether there will be surgery to remove the tumor.  I find it difficult to switch on the creative juices, and I'm sure many others are facing something in the wake of this pandemic and all of the peripheral issues surrounding it.

Let's carry on as best we can, pray for those most affected and, here in America, for peace and security to topple the chaos and violence we're seeing under the guise of progressive activity.  I can imagine Solo and Kuryakin on the job as they seek out information on what must certainly be fueled by THRUSH.

Be safe everyone, and if you can write then grab that moment and go for it.

As Glennagirl put it, it's been tough finding the writing mojo, but I'm still plugging along...

The prompts: Neolithic, northeast

Mark, Napoleon, Illya and the others watched, albeit nervously, as April and Ellery headed towards the Neolithic site. Once arriving the two women surveyed the bodies that were still arranged as they had been.

There was no new corpse that they could see. Perhaps the lack of availability of live victims within the sphere of Stonehenge’s influence had indeed interrupted these grisly rituals.

As to whether that was a good thing remained to be seen.
