It's Sunday...
Jun. 25th, 2017 09:26 amThanks to everyone who joined in the discussion yesterday on evolving values and attitudes. I'm saying that's what it was, but you can check it out HERE The topic centers on Robert Vaughn and some comments he made, but I think the general concensus makes for interesting reading. And for the record, I am going to say I play a Devil's Advocate role here ;)
The ABC Affair keeps on churning out good stories, and I'm still trying to catch up. If you haven't joined in on this one yet, you can absolutely do so by starting from the beginning or jumping in where we are currently. There are no real rules here.
We're going to be seeing challenges take a break for the summer, but that doesn't mean inactivity. We'll be doing some impromptu challenges, and of course it's a time for you to catch up on stories you intended to write but never got around to finishing. I have several of those myself. Choose any of the tags and peruse the prompts, see if something clicks for you.
I'm still importing daily to Dreamwidth, and I'm guessing we've amped up the entries on AO3 by quite a bit with our new policy of posting links rather than complete stories here on LJ. That's what happened on ff.net when the stories started pouring out of Section VII during our first year. The number of MFU stories doubled, and most of that was due to the postings from writers who had responded to challenges. Kudos to everyone who has been keeping this fandom active with your fiction and love of Solo and Kuryakin.
Now, let me throw out a couple of ideas. First one: I'd love to see a video challenge. I realize that is a limited group who do such things, and it doesn't include me. But I do think it would be fun, and I have a song that I'd like to use as the prompt. All I need are some videographers, or whatever we should call people who can do this amazing craft.
vysila and
bluemeanybeany are two that I can think of at the moment. Anyway, that's on my wish list.
Second, I've discussed this with
mrua7 and she doesn't think I'm crazy. The 1967 television season was the fourth and final season of MFU. The last episodes, The Seven Wonders of the World Affair (two parter), aired on January 8 & 15 of 1968. For me, that makes the last season within the 1967 time frame, which means we're in another 50 Year Anniversary. I was thinking that we might do another big challenge, similar to the 50th Anniversary Big Bang, for which we write another ending to the show. It would need to be a minimum of 5000 words, with illustrations included per the author's choice.
What do you think? I'm open to comments and suggestion, but I think this has potential. It would be a longer term challenge, say three months to finish it and post before the holidays begin.

Date: 2017-06-25 03:59 pm (UTC)I guess if this became a "what next" theme, though, that kind of leaves out the movie (not that I personally would care :-)) - or does it? Maybe someone could think of a way to tie the two in.
