This is a wow story. I think your muse is back with a vengeance. Your descriptive opening with the candle was excellent. I know you're probably getting sick of hearing this but this could be extended with flashbacks of Illya's training and dealings with Radomil Semyonovich Kozlov (I loved that name!)
