This is one of my earlier pieces. (I say that like I've been around for ages, when it's actually slightly less than 3 years).
The priest in this story, Father Abnett, is another character I would like to bring back some day.

Illya lets us examine the dichotomy created by a man with righteous intentions, who must do unrighteous deeds in order to fulfill his intentions; his path is complicated. Scripture tells us that God does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked, pleading instead for him to change his ways and live. Perhaps Illya has the same mindset.
