In the realm of MFU, we have a diverse group of people who love the show, love the characters and the actors who portray them. On the show we know Illya likes to eat, while Napoleon has trouble finishing a sandwich (Bridge of Lions Affair for instance). In real life, what do we love?  I thought a poll might help to shed some light on this white hot topic.

Well, it seems if all of your answers are none of the above then it isn't the poll at a loss, it's simply not your subject.

I think it's rather that the available answers were oddly limited, considering the range of possibilities. So you're probably right and it cuts me out as a subject.

The nature of a poll is limited, but the response is more a reflection of the person taking it than the poll itself. The choices are limitless for any given category, but not everyone fits into any given inquiry.

I couldn't answer the 'coffee with...' question because, to quote Illya in 'Matterhorn', I like my 'coffee, black'. I also use artificial sweetner since I decided to cut back on sugar.

This is not a very good poll. The option "none of the above" or "other" is missing with a lot of questions
- I like my salads without dressing, maybe just a little mayonaise
- I don't really like candy - I know, I'm weird :-)
- I drink my coffee black and hot. no milk and certainly no sugar
- I drink my tea plain. No milk, no lemon, no sugar ...

The poll is fine, it's here to measure responses. If you don't care for some of the options, then the comment box works just fine. I think adding just mayo is not something I would ever have imagined, and the other items fit into the comment box as well. But you answered most questions :D

Yes, from my sources of information on internet (like this LJ and FB), it seems Americans eat mostly pizzas, burgers and cookies, and not much anything else (hardly exaggerated).

Well, it is exaggerated, but not that much. I see a lot of family recipes shared here and there on line (usually quite complicated) but when people talk about their last meal in a restaurant, it's almost always pizzas!

It isn't just exaggerated, it is a completely false image of a country about which you seem to have little or no first hand experience. For that I'm sorry, it might make your opinions of us less harsh. Above all things American, one must remember that we are all descendants of people who came from you where you now are.

It's not just my personal opinion. I was mostly repeating the rants of my old American boyfriend (a head-steward on the former American Airlines and thus, used to travel throughout the globe), who was constantly complaining about the lack of choices he had in his town of Charlotte (North Carolina) and about one of his brothers, a very wealthy man, who employed a private cook to prepare, every other day, either a pizza or a burger. At the time it was me who reproached him to generalize! Anyway that's not to be taken too seriously.

Candy favorite: Dark chocolate, dark chocolate with sea salt, dark chocolate, dark chocolate with nuts. I like good quality chocolate -- not Snickers or Cadbury!

Tea is black. Coffee is seldom but black when I have it.

Oh well, my favorite candy is See's, but at over $20 a pound I don't keep it around the house, nor is it readily available. Personally, I think a Snicker's bar is the ultimate in a quick candy bar treat. A few others agreed ;) As for black coffee, I'll repeat what I've pointed out above, the comment box works great for adding an alternative answer.

Difficult to answer; I don't eat sweets at all (never liked them, not even as a child), very rarely cakes or fried potatoes (which are not French, by the way) and never put anything in tea or coffee but hot water. I don't know what is a sweet pie (a pie is supposed to be stuffed with chicken or minced meat, mushroom and a thick sauce). However I eat salad everyday, big bowls of it but with olive oïl, mustard, garlic and vinegar (though quite often with nothing, rabbit-like). I don't cook much; I eat a lot of raw stuff, with no preparation or dressing.

French fries are not French, and Caesar salad was created in Mexico. Chips are not fries, nor are biscuits cookies... but then again they are.
A pie is a one or two crust baked good filled with either sweet or savory fillings, and is not the same as a tart.

In Belgium a pie is always sweet. It is filled with pudding and/or fruit.
We don't have mince pies or meat pies. As far as I know it's something typically British - but I might very well be wrong :-)

Maybe we could all compare our national kitchen - it might be enlightening :-)

Yes, I was thinking about the British pie, though we have a similar thing in France; it's called "tourte". Maybe there are sweet ones too, after all, but I am not too much into desserts, apart of fruits. I am mostly on a mediterranean diet, not out of fashion or for medical reasons but from family tradition.
