Oddly enough my 'mother tongue' (if you could call it that in a way) is not the way English is spoken in this part of the state. I was born in Queens NY and came to NJ with my family at the age of 6 but I still find that when I'm with my relations from New York I fall right into their speech patterns. I guess it's something that I retained from my parents and much older brothers.
Though my NY cousins probably still think I sound like "a Joisy girl." Eye and ear of the beholder I guess.
