Question about Section VII

According to the ID card below, Section 7 is Propaganda and Finance.

Does that mean we're responsible for approving Napoleon's expenses claims?

There's an odd overlap in most of the sections, except you notice for Sections 7 & 8. Section VIII is traditionally referred to as R &D also known as the laps. Wikipedia has a more concise breakdown of what entails each Section.

I would imagine Finance is a separate division within Section VII. I think a lot of us call it "Accounting"... so yeah, I guess "we're" responsible. lol! Then again, because of the '4th wall' aren't we responsible for a lot of other things as well? "D

We're responsible for many things (which can't often be discussed in polite company, LOL). If we are responsible for finances, and there are more Illya girls than Napoleon girls here, it might explain why Illya's claims are granted more often in our stories :-D

I don't think Illya oversteps his bounds when it comes to submitting expenditures. He buys off the rack clothes, and not custom made suits like Napoleon, and gets in less trouble when said clothes have to be replaced. Maybe there's a method to his fugal madness. lol!

In Her Master's Voice, Illya complains about having to put the record (that they think is triggering the girl's post-hypnotic response) on his expense account because he is still waiting to be reimbursed for his last few missions. I think this is where the idea that he is cheap comes from.

That is an odd combination. I don't think I want my experts in lies and manipulation being responsible for the company coffers.

That's why I'm thinking they must be separate entities within Section VII. But since the people who developed all this are no longer with us, we'll never really know. will we? So anyone's best guess...

There is supposed to be a public relations front that comes under the Section VII umbrella. That may be why it says finance, but it isn't accounting based on anything else they have as department/section responsibilities.

U.N.C.L.E. does have a public relations front.

There may have been a bit of floundering when producing things like the ID card.
