Over the weekend we listened to a countdown on Sirius of the listeners' choices of the top 100 Beatles songs. It was hosted by Peter Asher of Peter & Gordon and also the brother of Paul's one-time love, Jane Asher. He shared all sorts of interesting information including the fact that on one of the songs (I'm sorry I can't remember which) that had string backup, one of the violinists was David McCallum, "whose son, David McCallum, Jr., played Illya Kuryakin on The Man From UNCLE and went on to play Duckie in NCIS." Just wanted to share that little tidbit with you all.

David McCallum Sr. was a first chair violinist and played backup on the Beatles song "A Day in the Life",

This photo of 2015 shows David McCallum with his father's violin. I think the story is that the other man in the photo now owns and plays it, and brought it to show him. I can't remember who he is, sorry.

My dream combination: Beatles and Illya :D Thanks so much for sharing this, it's a nice footnote to our cultural heritage in the arts. David Jr. did record at least one Beatles tune, Yesterday. Of course, everyone recorded Yesterday.
