The new LJ format sucks rocks.

Every time I see kerfuffle I say (in my head) "kartoffeln" and visualize fighting over, or with, potatoes. My family had this thing where we would muck around words (the way kids say busghetti instead of spaghetti, but on purpose). This is part of that thing.

OMG! I used this word in one of my older stories. A bunch of of the ladies are in the Commissary, gossiping about a new agent from Wales.

“I’m not from around here.” the ditzy blonde insisted. (Stella)

“That’s right you’re from New Jersey.”

“No I’m not! How many times do I have to remind you I’m from Saskatoon in Saskatchewan. That’s Canada.”

“There you go with that Canada thing again, enh?” Wanda joked. “Yeah Stella Singleton from Saskatoon Saskatchewan.”

The women all burst out into a fit of catty laughter.

“You better not make fun of me or there’s going to be a real kerfuffle!” Stella threatened.

Mr Waverly read the security report on the incident which had occurred in the secretarial pool. Three of the newest secretaries had gotten into a fight over which of them would win Napoleon Solo's attention. The Old Man shook his head and smiled to himself.

"Such a kerfuffle over a man who will undoubtedly date all three of them," he muttered.

(Kerfuffle has always been one of my all time favourite words, and I use it in my speech quite often. Being of Scottish descent probably has something to with it.)

It was only a minor kerfuffle, Mark had borrowed Ilya's last pencil and ended up in the gym on the mat.
