Date: 2019-09-14 12:06 am (UTC)Every time I see kerfuffle I say (in my head) "kartoffeln" and visualize fighting over, or with, potatoes. My family had this thing where we would muck around words (the way kids say busghetti instead of spaghetti, but on purpose). This is part of that thing.

“There you go with that Canada thing again, enh?” Wanda joked. “Yeah Stella Singleton from Saskatoon Saskatchewan.”
The women all burst out into a fit of catty laughter.
“You better not make fun of me or there’s going to be a real kerfuffle!” Stella threatened.

(Kerfuffle has always been one of my all time favourite words, and I use it in my speech quite often. Being of Scottish descent probably has something to with it.)
